Skin Care and Sunscreen

Sunscreen for everyday skin care?

I came across a very insightful article not too long ago about sunscreen and I thought I’ll share it with you.

skin care with sunscreen CalgaryEven though, we don’t have lot of hot weather here in Calgary, we do have a lot of sunshine and that means we need to protect ourselves from the harmful UV rays. No matter if it is a rainy or sunny day or if it is summer or winter, you should wear a sunscreen every single day.

Are you using a moisturizer that has sunscreen? If not are you applying sunscreen to your face every day?

According to this article, 84% of the women surveyed didn’t use sunscreen daily. That is a higher percentage than I thought, honestly. Granted, this survey was not done here in Calgary but I am assuming that there is a large number of women here too who have not incorporated sunscreen in their daily skin care protocol.

The minimum SPF recommended in Canada was raised from 15 to 30 in 2008. That means in order to truly protect your skin you should be using a SPF 30 or higher sunscreen product. Here is more info on sunscreen in Canada.

Benefits of using sunscreen:

  • Reduces the chances of skin cancer
  • Prevents the development of brown-spots
  • Reduces the appearance of red veins
  • Slows down the appearance of wrinkles and old looking skin
  • And more…
